I think that it was over a year ago when the BBC decided to read Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie.  As I was reading it, I loved the descriptions and the words. It is an epic novel and very informative. Unfortunately, I still have not finished that journey.  Stay tuned...

Sometimes, I need to light a fire under my butt to complete something. I picked this book for the Armchair Traveler's Reading Challenge in the hopes that it would force me to finish.  The deadline for the challenge was December 31st and I finished this book at about 7:20 p.m. EST Since there are so many details to keep track of, I started over to make sure that I did not miss anything. I did enjoy the descriptions and the details, but because there were so many characters and intricacies in the plot, I had to re-read things.  The last two chapters flew by and made the whole book worthwhile.  I do want to visit Kashmir and Pakistan to see where the action took place.  The book also made me understand a little more why there are such tensions between India and Pakistan, Hindus and Muslims.
