Booking Through Thursday: Book Meme

btt button

I’ve seen this series of questions floating around the ‘net the last few days, and thought it looked like a good one for us!

What was the last book you bought?

Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson

Name a book you have read MORE than once

Pride and Prejudice

Has a book ever fundamentally changed the way you see life? If yes, what was it?

Yes, there have been a few.  I would say Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver and May You Be the Mother of a Hundred Sons whose author I cannot remember.

How do you choose a book? eg. by cover design and summary, recommendations or reviews

Most of the time, I choose a book by recommendations and reviews. Occasionally, I will pick a book based on the summary written on the book.

Do you prefer Fiction or Non-Fiction?

I enjoy both very much.

What’s more important in a novel - beautiful writing or a gripping plot?

Gripping plot

Most loved/memorable character (character/book)

Several: Leah from Poisonwood Bible and the main male character from Wind Up Bird Chronicle.

Which book or books can be found on your nightstand at the moment?

What the Body Remembers by Shauna Singh Baldwin, various journals, and some old magazines.

What was the last book you’ve read, and when was it?

Written on the Body which I finished last week.

Have you ever given up on a book half way in?

I am surprised that you hated Pride and Prejudice. I thought it was good, but I am certainly ready to read something else.
