I am very slow with completing books during this LAST year of law school while I am in the midst of wedding planning and daydreaming about making my life in a new state and figuring out how to find and create my dream job, so I thought that it would be fun to have a progress report of my reading. This is an online reading group where all the participants set aside time to read every Sunday and blog about the experience.

This week, I began reading Off the Menu by Christine Son.  It is the story of three Asian American women who are trying to fit into two cultures.  I can relate to the struggles the main characters are facing.  I am only about a third of the way through the book, but so far I find myself nodding profusely at several points.  One of the most pleasant surprises is that one of the characters is a lawyer; as she describes feeling out of place and frustrated with the racism in her firm, I felt like I was having my worst nightmare lived out.

In a few weeks, I am excited to be a tour stop for the author as part of the TLC book tours.   I am nervous about hosting an author here and writing an extra good review.  I look forward to reading the rest of the book to find out more about the characters!
