Book Meme
I have been visiting some new websites and was excited to find that I got tagged (or meme’d or whatever is the hip lingu) by bunni. Let me just say that she is smart and sassy. Her delivery is whole swat of putting the smack down with lots of class and intelligence sprinkled in. I also saw it on Andy page and while he did not officially tag me, I like to think that he will enjoy my responses.
1. How many books do you own?
I am going to say close to 500. That is between books with me and at my parents place. Someday, all my friends will be reunited and then I will probably have to have a cleansing purge.
2. Last book read?
Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Neffenegger. I read it on the airplane to and from
3. Last book purchased?
Salt: A World History by Mark Kurlansky I purchased it for book club and I am getting through it okay. It is not particularly memorizing, but it is informative.
4. Name five books that mean a lot to you.
As many have said, it is hard to choose just five. I love books!! I don’t have many friends, so it is fun to have literary ones.
The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream by Paulo Coehlo. Such a good, inspiring message.
Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. This was the first book I read that talked about the female Indian immigrant experience. It is a good blend of magic and realism.
East of
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I miss the character of Leah SO much! It’s a story about missionaries, sisters, identity, and finding your place in the world.
Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Brilliant story about journies and the faith needed to get through.
5. Tag five more people.
The bloggers I miss: Ben, ErinB., Crissy, Jef, and Joan. Because I am not one to follow rules too close, I would also be interested in seeing the response of Mr. S. (too lazy to spell out entire name) Anyone else who would like to answer, please feel free. You just respond to these questions on your site and leave a comment here letting me know that you did it.
