Cowboy Take Me Away

Today I woke up at 10am which is early for me on the weekend.  Since I have been having such trouble sleeping during the week, I have taken to hibernating on the weekends.  Sometimes I wake up with the sunset and other times I wake up in time for lunch. Other times, I find myself waking up in time for an early supper.  I try to listen to my body and go with the flow.  However, I am keenly aware that my finals begin in five weeks and that on this particular weekend, I need to be preparing for a practice exam that will take place on Monday.  I met the woman upstairs at the school library and we powered through a full day of studying.  It felt nice to take the night away from schoolwork to assemble two lamps I had purchased from IKEA and watch some television.  As I was flipping through the channels, I came across a "storyteller" special on VH1.  This is where musicians perform live shows and tell the stories behind their songs.  I was so excited to realize that the Dixie Chicks were telling their story; the song they are performing right now is "Cowboy Take Me Away."  Their songs are so rich and as I learn the stories behind the tunes, I like them even more.

The gifts go on:

1. Having a productive study session.

2. Laughing hard with my study buddies and believing them when they said that we would kick ass.

3.  Finally unpacking the suitcase from the Las Vegas trip. My mom was nice enough to pack it for me and I did not realize that she had sent me various treats.

4. Even though it was cold today, I enjoyed the sunshine.

5. Listening to the Dixie Chicks in the background and deciding that I really like the sound of laughter.

In spite of all the challenges to get there and the stress of law school, as I read your posts it's obvious that you've grown substantially in the few months you've been there. You're disciplined, and... maturing with pleasure.

Thank you for the encouragement Jef. It is hard to see my progress and growth when I am in the midst of madness.
