Honeymoon Preview in the Burgh
I am actually already in MA in Partner's apartment where we will be for a few days before going on our honeymoon. I am in the living room trying to do some work, but feeling compelled to blog with the rain hitting the windows as my soundtrack. In the quest to catch up on blog posts, I am going to write about our lovely visit with Tom and Sonja in Pittsburgh on the 8th day of our cross country road trip.
We arrived into Tom and Sonja's lovely new home after an eight hour drive. Both of us were exhausted, but so happy to be seeing friends, staying at a real home, and having the chance to do some laundry :) Tom and Sonja were gracious as always. They gave up their bedroom for us to use for the night. They took us to a yummy Thai restaurant that had plenty of delicious vegetarian options. Eating that food got us pumped for our honeymoon which begins in less than a week, but the excitement of the trip got pushed to the background as we were packing up my apartment and driving across country.
After dinner, we went to a local ice cream shop. I indulged in a hot fudge sundae which pretty much blew my mind. You can certainly taste the difference between home made ice cream and what most of us bring home from the grocery store. As we were enjoying ice cream, we walked around Pittsburgh. I loved seeing CMU's campus and seeing a bit of the history of Tom and Sonja. Pittsburgh has such a cozy feel; I love the public gathering places, the university campus, and the museums. Each time I go, I wish for more time. I think it is the combination of being in a new place and wanting to spend time with old friends. As we were going to sleep, I whispered to Partner, "Today was so much fun! I love being here!!" He agreed and then told me to go to sleep.
Unfortunately, we watched a movie about Walmart right before going to bed which was informative and had a good message. However, the movie itself was not very well done. Fortunately, the next morning we started fresh and had a yummy brunch with Sonja. (Poor Tom had to go to work) One of my favorite sounds is my Partner's laugh blending with one of my best friends. I really like watching him interact with her and seeing both of them get to know (and hopefully) like each other.
