The Resolutions
Happy New Years Eve. I hope that the year ahead will be bright and brilliant for all of you. For the first time in a few years, I have some concrete resolutions:
1. To make 26 new recipes. I have been reading a lot of food blogs and they have inspired me. I also want to eat healthier and expand my cooking scope.
2. To make a scarf. When I have my surgery, I am going to be off my feet for three months. In order to make the time pass quicker, I am going to try to knit at least one scarf.
3. To post at least 24 times per month on the blog. I want to increase my average monthly posts from 23 to 24 per month.
4. After recovering from surgery, I would like to make and achieve another fitness goal.
What are your resolutions?
My First Five Course Meal
Tonight I made my first five course meal for Corrie, Joe, Sandi, and Brian. This fulfilled the tradition of having Chinese food during Christmas even though it turned into more a new years celebration. I was also excited to win at the game Loaded Questions. It is so fun. If you have not played then you are really missing out. Thanks again to Corrie and Joe for bringing it. I was also excited to receive bees from Sandi and Brian. They made a donation in my name so that a family could get bees and become economically self sufficient.
Here is the menu that I prepared:
- Hot and Sour Soup
- Szechean Vegetables with Tofu
- Asparagus with Sesame Seeds
- Stir Fried Bok Choy
- Fried Rice
I guess that I should say all four of us prepared the items. I got home from work and was cooking like a champ. I took out a chopper to take care of the carrots. This thing was lethal. I managed to cut my hand three times. I bled through all the band aids I had in the house. I called Sandi and Brian to ask it they could bring more. I was getting nervous about needing stiches. Fortunately, the bleeding has stopped but the sight of the cuts still throbs. Cooking can be dangerous.
The pain in my fingers soon lessened as I won Loaded Questions for the first time. I am looking forward to playing it many more times in the future. In the meantime, Happy New Years Eve!
One Fish, Two Fish, Three Fish
I finally looked at the pictures that Sonja and Tom had sent from my visit to Pittsburgh. I do not think that I have ever had such a well documented vacation. These are three of my favorites. This morning I had my first day of protein in the morning. I could not bring myself to make eggs mostly because I overslept and have to cook tonight, so I did not want the house to smell of eggs. I had toast with peanut butter and a v8. My stomach thinks that it might be a bit too intense. My mother is going to check on me tonight, so I am going to try to have chicken or fish for lunch. I had a really good chicken mole last night, so hopefully it will not be too hard to find some other scrumptious item.
Enjoy the photographs!
