My First Successful Event
Yesterday, the first event I planned in law school took place. This was a panel on religion and reproductive justice. I had gotten in touch with panelists, ordered food, and moderated. I was VERY nervous about how things would go; much to my delight, there was good turnout, the food was yummy, and the panelists were brilliant. I am glad to have this undertaking complete. Now, I just need to get through two more big events before the semester finishes. I have been struggling a lot to figure out how to balance everything. My scheduling efforts have been undermined by a strong, burning, and irresistible desire to nap. When I feel overwhelmed, I also have a tendency to want to sleep. The task list just seems to grow and grow.
One of my favorite quotes from the panel yesterday was from the Chaplain of Planned Parenthood: "I believe everyone is on a spiritual journey. It may not lead you to church, but everyone is on one. As part of that journey, your goal should be justice." In law school, I often feel very lost and then there are nuggets of truth which come through. Thankfully, I got one yesterday in the midst of a crazy time.
