I am very slow with completing books this semester, so I thought that it would be fun to have a progress report of my reading. This is an online reading group where all the participants set aside time to read every Sunday and blog about the experience. I continued reading the book that I started two weeks ago.
Since I have two papers that I need to complete for tomorrow, I only read one essay in Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant. This essay was called something like "Love and Potatoes, a Reflection." I chuckled at how much the author liked potatoes. It was not until I returned from the grocery store that I realized I had purchased a whole bag of potatoes. I had not had potatoes on my list or asparagus. There is another essay in the book, "How to be an Asparagus Superhero." After reading that essay, I did have a craving for asparagus. When I saw them at the grocery store, I went on autopilot and put them in my cart. Fortunately, the book also has recipes. I am looking forward to trying some of them now that I have some key ingredients.
