The Sunday Salon #28: What the Body Remembers Week Five

The Sunday Salon.com

I am very slow with completing books during this LAST year of law school while I am in the midst of wedding planning and daydreaming about making my life in a new state and figuring out how to find and create my dream job, so I thought that it would be fun to have a progress report of my reading. This is an online reading group where all the participants set aside time to read every Sunday and blog about the experience.

I was so happy to return to  What the Body Remembers by Shauna Singh Baldwin for my airplane reading over the weekend.  The story continues to be addictive.  Even though, I did get more insight into Sadarji's dilemma, I still do not like his character very much.  He continues to irk me with the choices he makes.  On the other hand, I continue to admire Satya and feel sympathy for Roop.  Right now, I am at a patch of the book where tensions are rising between Hindus and Muslims and the Sikhs are feeling stuck in the middle.  I am also getting impressed with Roop's assertiveness with her children's  English teacher.

As I have been writing about this book for over a month, I realize that it has been tough for me to describe the reading experience of this book without getting caught up in the plot details.  Maybe that is what happens when you spend a lot of time with the characters of a book.

If you have any questions that you would like me to answer about the book, I would be happy to do so in my next post about the book.  You can just leave them in the comments.

You can read my previous three postings for the Sunday Salon about this selection here and here and  here and here.

Are the 'body' books related? or was it a coincidence?
