The Sunday Salon #22: Pesepolis Week 2

The Sunday Salon.com

I am very slow with completing books this semester SUMMER , so I thought that it would be fun to have a progress report of my reading. This is an online reading group where all the participants set aside time to read every Sunday and blog about the experience.

This morning, I continued reading Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi which will be discussed either today or tomorrow at Inside Cover for the online book club discussion.  I posted about this book last week.  As I have looked at other saloners posts, I have felt impressed and envious with the speed with which people finish books.  Now that law school has begun, I have much less time to read for pleasure. It is still a joy to set aside some time to read on Sundays, even if I do not have any other time to read during the week.

I am still enjoying this book.  Now, I am at the point where the main character is having family members die as a result of the revolution.  I also appreciate and relate to her anger at God that things are so rough and people appear to be dying in vain.  The main character's growth is very apparent. I love the contrast between the adult discussions and interactions Marjane has with the times she is with her friends.

In addition to reading Persepolis for an online book club discussion, I am also reading the book for the Orbis Teeravm Challenge
