The Sunday Salon #13 and #14: Ex Debutante and Remembering Babylon
I am very slow with completing books this semester SUMMER, so I thought that it would be fun to have a progress report of my reading. This is an online reading group where all the participants set aside time to read every Sunday and blog about the experience.
This is another double digest issue for me. Last week, I could not post because I was traveling from Durham to Baltimore. During the day, I was spending time with my Partner to-be and did not really feel like being away from him to blog. Anyway, I could not continue with the book I was reading because I needed to return it to the library. Instead, I started reading Ex Debutante which I ended up getting through very quickly. It was a good read for the airplane because I was entertained without having to concentrate very hard. You can read my full review here.
Yesterday, I picked up Remembering Babylon by David Malouf from the public library. Since over a week had passed since I last read the book, I started again from the beginning. Fortunately, the second read is going much faster. I also like knowing a bit more about how the story is going to unfold. I could appreciate the writing even more. I am hoping that my commute on the metro will allow me to make more progress on this text during the week.
