Booking Through Thursday: Beginnings
Suggested by: Nithin
Here’s another idea about memorable first lines from books.
What are your favourite first sentences from books? Is there a book that you liked specially because of its first sentence? Or a book, perhaps that you didn’t like but still remember simply because of the first line?

Unfortunately, I do not remember ANY first lines. I am pretty good at recalling a few good phrases. For example, in the book I just finished, I loved the line: "Ignore is not the same as ignorance." Since I cannot recall a first line, there is not a book I did not like whose first line I remember. This question is making me feel bad about my memory.
