Booking Through Thursday: Sensual

btt button

Which do you prefer? Lurid, fruity prose, awash in imagery and sensuous textures and colors? Or straight-forward, clean, simple prose?

(You thought I was going to ask something else, didn’t you? Admit it!)

I actually enjoy both types of writing. I find that I enjoy more descriptive prose when I am on vacation and the straight forward type when I am commuting. However, if a story is good, I enjoy it no matter what the writing style.

You are right - it does depend where I am reading too.

Lynda: I think it would be that way for most people.

Good answer - I like how you relate different events to when you like different types of writing. That's a good thought - I think mine will depend on my mood (like I'm sure yours changes on vacation) - if I'm grumpy, I don't want to wade through a bunch of description - but if I'm relaxed, bring it on!

Thanks for stopping by - I like how you differentiate that your tastes vary due to vacation - I never thought about that!

Rachelle: yes indeed, vacation makes it easier to bring many things on in the novel world.

Tara: My pleasure, thanks for stopping by here too.

That's a great point about like the more flowery prose on vacation! I love a good excapist book when I am away from home! But yes, when I am commuting - get to the point!

Amused: I feel like when I have limited reading time, I want to more through the story more quickly.

Good point! I'm glad other people shared my opinion. I thought no one would be into the flowery prose at all!

Jamye: I think that people like flowery stuff, maybe just not all the time.

I totally agree that it just depends. Now that I'm on spring break, I notice I want fast, entertaining reads.
Spring break is good for reading fast and entertaining reads.
