License to Wed
I ended up watching this movie because my father had gotten it from Netflix. Yes, my father has joined Netflix which amuses me greatly. Especially because his movie selection is a bit unexpected. Anyway, this movie was pretty funny. A lot of the cast of the office is in it which was a nice surprise. It is light hearted and mindless.
Which Screen? Small screen is all that is available right now; this is a good movie to see when you just want something mindless.
I am Legend
To keep up with our Christmas tradition, my brother and I planned to see a movie and have Chinese food. My father did not have to work, so he joined us for the movie. We got to the theater and were shocked at the number of people there. The movie we originally wanted to see was sold out, so we ended up seeing I am Legend. While the movie had an interesting premise, it reminded me of a not very well done cross between Cast Away and X-files. There was some entertainment value in the movie because several things startled me and I screamed OUT LOUD twice. Then, I squeezed my father's arm to keep from screaming even more. This amused my brother and him very much. There were good special effects, but I am not sure if it is worth spending the money to see it in the theater. One thing that I did enjoy about the movie was learning more about Bob Marley's life.
Fortunately, the Chinese food was delicious and my mom was home in time for dinner. She ordered the food and had it waiting when we got home.
Which Screen? If you are curious, small screen is fine.
Walk Hard
I saw this movie with Sonja and Tom on Christmas Eve. We thought that it was going to be as funny as Nacho Libre. Boy were we wrong. This movie did have some funny moments, but I thought that a lot of the jokes were cheap and unnecessarily sexual in nature. I was giggling throughout the movie because I was pretty giddy and high on sugar. There were a lot of familiar actors in the movie which was fun to see. However, I kept wanting more. The movie was a spoof of Walk the Line, so I knew what was going to come next. I thought that I was being picky, but when I heard that Tom and Sonja shared my sentiments, I felt better.
Which Screen? All the penis shots are best viewed on a small screen or you could just walk hard past this selection.
If These Walls Could Talk
This movie has become something of a legend in certain circles. I felt like I was behind the times for not watching it. Fortunately, I took a few study breaks and saw it over the course of a week. I am glad that I got to digest it in small bits. It was very well done and powerful. I liked that there were three different mini-movies into one film. It was a powerful film and I would recommend folks watch it to get a sense of the history of abortion and reproductive rights in the U.S.
Which screen? It is only available on small screen.
